It’s that time again! The Hoyle Historic Homestead will hold its annual Open House Saturday, September 8, 2018. The house is located at 1214 Dallas-Stanley Highway in Dallas, NC. Everyone will have a change to explore Gaston County's oldest home at the 27th open house. This annual event includes an opportunity to tour the homestead, which sits on land granted to German settler Peiter Hieyl in 1754. Much continues to be researched about Hieyl and his descendants even today. Learn about this and more. Guided house tours will begin at 10:00 AM and run until 3:00 PM. These tours will offer an opportunity to see the rare corner post log construction and learn about architectural features including the dogtrot. There will be booths with information and books about local history and goods from local vendors including a handmade metal working shop. Food and drinks will be for sale. Individuals or groups are invited to bring their instruments for an old-fashioned bluegrass jam, If all this isn’t enough, you can enjoy a walk to the South Fork River.
