This is your only chance this year to see the oldest house in Gaston County. The Hoyle Historic Homestead will be open to the public free of charge. The house dates to about 1758 and was part of a land grant to Peter Heyl (later Hoyle). There will be isplays about history, genealogy. There will also be food and music. SPECIAL this year is the opening of another house related to the Hoyles also on Dallas Stanley Highway. This antebellum house is that of Eli Hoyle (1801-1844) grandson of Peter. The house has lots of architectural details to delight the eye and tell of craftsmen in the area. The Eli Hoyle House will be open from 11AM to 2 PM. All persons need to go to the main house to park and check in.
