It is with great sadness our communities learned of the death of Mt Holly Police officer, Tyler Avery Herndon, who was only 25 years old. The tragic loss of any life is heartbreaking but a life so young takes one’s breath away. Often forgotten, are the good men and women who are serving and have served our Nation’s citizens at home and abroad. Unselfishly putting themselves in harm’s way; from tirelessly treating COVID 19 patients; to securing the safety of others; they seek little recognition for the freedoms they defend and provide. We are blessed by their dedication towards making this world a better place to live!
Officer Tyler Herndon would have celebrated his 26th birthday today. He was endeared by all who knew him and cared deeply for those in need. Showing compassion and kindness, he often payed for food or gas to assist others. These actions reflected his character and the pride he took in his service as a police officer. We, at the Montcross Area Chamber, will be praying for this young man’s family and all concerned. Our heartfelt condolences go out to all who knew him.
In effort to remember and honor Officer Tyler Herndon, the Montcross Area Chamber has purchased and will be distributing blue light bulbs, which can be used on your porch or close by.
Bulbs from the Montcross Area Chamber will be distributed on Monday Dec 14th in TWO locations.
In BELMONT in parking lot at the Belmont Police Department, at 201 Chronicle St. and in STANLEY in the parking lot of the Stanley Police Department, at 230 S Main St.
Both locations will be starting at 11:00 am. Supplies are limited and available while they last, one per family please. These are drive thru events, please do not exit your automobiles.
We respectfully ask these lights be displayed from 6:00 pm until 9:11 pm (or longer) over the next week. In this way, we are not only paying honor to the incredible life of Officer Herndon but we also are honoring all the heroes who serve and have served to make this world a better place.
