BREVARD STATION (Now Stanley) IN THE CIVIL WAR is the title of a presentation and book signing by historian genealogist and author ROBERT C. CARPENTER. He will talk specifically about the area around the first railroad station west of the Catawba River called Brevard Station, which became Stanley in 1879. Robert Carpenter is a retired principal and currently an adjunct professor at Belmont Abbey College. He is president of the Gaston Lincoln Genealogical Society. Admission is free. Refreshments will be served.
