Belmont Christmas Parade Guidelines

Dress Code:
  • All participants must be fully clothed throughout the duration of the parade.
  • Costumes worn by parade participants should meet the rules set by the parade committee and conform to the standards of reasonable public taste.
  • They should be family-friendly and can be Christmas-themed, but no participant may dress as Santa.
Safety and Behavior:
  • No fire, discharging of firearms, or pyrotechnics of any kind are allowed during the parade.
  • Alcoholic beverages are strictly forbidden on any float, in any vehicle, or on the person of any participant.
  • You must adhere to the rules and directions of police officers directing the flow of the parade.
Float Decorations and Themes:
  • All entries should be decorated in a manner that reflects the holiday spirit of the parade.
  • Floats must adhere to the “Christmas” of “Youth” theme for costumes and decorations.
  • No “For Sale” signs are allowed on vehicles participating in the parade.
Performance and Music:
  • Performances by parade participants should also meet the rules set by the parade committee and conform to the standards of reasonable public taste.   They should be family friendly.
  • Only Christmas theme music will be allowed.
General Guidelines:
  • Political campaigning is not permitted during the parade.   Politicians are welcome to participate, but handing out materials, flyers, etc., is not allowed.
  • Livestock, reptiles, wild, and domestic animals are not allowed in the parade unless prior written approval by the parade committee is obtained.  Handlers of animals must make prior arrangements for clean-up if necessary.
  • Use of high-intensity sound-making devices is discouraged and must be approved by the parade committee.
  • Drivers of any vehicles in the parade areas must possess a valid driver’s license, be at least 18 years old, and have liability vehicle insurance.
  • Maintain appropriate parade distance from the crowd as well as well as maintain the appropriate distance from the proceeding vehicle / group.
